About José Filipe Abecasis

José Filipe Abecasis is one of AAMM's founding partners and boasts more than 20 years' experience in representing Portuguese and international companies with high profiles in the market. Josés clients come from a range of sectors, chiefly real estate, urban planning and construction and he specialises in public procurement, and administrative and regulatory litigation.

Responsible for preparing and accompanying several pieces of legislation in the fields of territorial planning and administrative organisation. Advised on many highly complex court cases, projects and operations in urban planning and redevelopment as well as construction and public works, in the public domain.

  • From 1989 to 2012, he was a lawyer at the law firm PLMJ in the real estate, construction and administrative law practice. He became a partner in 2001.
  • From 1994 to 2011, he was a member of the Board of Auditors of the Cidade de Lisboa Foundation, as a legal consultant to the Board.
  • From 1988 to 1991, he worked as a legal consultant to the Municipal Director of Finance and Heritage of the Lisbon City Council.
  • Has taken part in numerous conferences and published a number of articles in his field of work, on real estate, urban planning and construction law.
  • Law degree from the Catholic University of Portugal, 1989.
  • Member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 1991.
